About Me

My photo
Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa
I grew up in the dusty streets of Soshanguve, a township in Pretoria; South Africa. Grew up with my mother who is an amazing woman that raised my brother and I all by herself. For curiosity reasons, my parents are divorced and my mother is just amazing enough to look after the both of us. I found out at a young age that I'd lost my sister and faced with numerous other challenges growing up, poetry was my way out. That played a big role in who I am today and has earned me a few achievements, the biggest being granted the opportunity of being a published poet in an Anthology called "Daybreak" and having earned other achievements and also making a start of writing for a few artists and producers. I'm too a daughter, a friend, an aunt, a blessing, a miracle, a lyricist, and therefore, a lyrical miracle. I'm not unique because I'm not like everyone else 'cause everyone's unique... Get me?? I love music, i love drama, i love basketball (i DO play it but I'm no player), I love my mother, I love myself and my first love, i love poetry...

You and I...

You and I make screams of silence beyond our imagination
Noises that take you and I on countless journeys I call emotion...
Emotions of orgasms that penetrate, yet make no creation
Yes, no, creation... Oral communication... More like a qualification, not a job, let's call this invasion...

You and I invade one another and cast s-p-e-l-l-s, we make magic
If my mother were to see this magic, we'd surely bake something tragic
Or maybe, if love was an ostrich, I'd call you and I fly
We'd spread our wings and do the impossible

You and I are beyond true love, but we've lost our sin
You and I make moistures of rusted Bibles on iron
Invented a study we call science
You repel against I
No tears because you attract towards I
Science calls it forces, in our case, it's magical causes

You and I are one fire
Making sparks fly and yet admire
...admire the stream that transformed you and I into an ocean

Full of scientific magical causes, you and I made a potion
You hold the key to my secured heart
You and I make a solution called trust
Our problem being "You and I"
Concluded it to be true love and cussed it to be "Us"

My mask...

From the time I awake, I feel the need to touch
I see the space between my mask and I is far too much
Apart from contemplating the true me
I time and watch the past of 'we'
My mask and I...
I put it on and smile but I know I live a lie...

A lie of happiness and laughter
Whilst it's sadness day by day as I get sadder
Sadder because of the mask I wear
Happiness I cannot bare

My naked face shows emotions
My mask shows rotations of all these emotions
I live a lie but am solitary
Express these emotions through poetry
With this thing on... My mask
I realise there's something for my life to see, I perceive a task

Yes, I live a lie
I laugh and yet I cry
Count yourself lucky 'cause you live, but I exist
I feel my life I should give and yet I resist

Please don't blame me 'cause I too wanna be like you and have a task
The only reason I possess my mask...

**Untitled**

I used to be an academic
I used to aim high and achieve
I used to be a little girl
I used to dream of the impossible
I used to live life to the fullest
I used to never doubt myself
I used to express myself
I used to know who I am
I used to smile with my eyes
But now, now I'm an actress...

I'm a high underachiever
I'm a little woman
I dream of the possible and live as though i'm empty
I don't know who I am
'Cause I express myself through my thoughts and not my emotions
I smile with an act
I want to be what i used to be and express myself

Like my name, I used to be blessed
But now? Now i'm cursed
My genuine smile used to light up a room
And now I wish i'd die soon
I used to wanna be lyrical..
More outspoken.. But this poem? It's a miracle
I used to, with ease, be able to flow it...
But I really wish I was still a poet...

Tumi and The Volume-Yvonne

They say a thin skinned drum
Makes the loudest beat
I am fairly grounded amidst the bullshit
My harvest is sweet
I walked passed a crowd of creeps
The type who rob and speak
Like their résumé requested what they do upon the streets
I was adamant that I wouldn't get
Involved with these ignored them peeps
I just kept my walk discreet
A few blocks later boom!
Sister's aura is sweet
Initial shock left my heart with a faulting beat
See I could live of yours if my heart stopped for weeks
May I walk with me, I mean you sorry my name is Tumi
Omar Salih when I am prying to the maker of your beauty
Couldn't help but admire what's your name little cutie?"
She said 'I am in a rush thus don't be a fuss
I mean for fucks sakes I need to catch the bus" "wait
It must be fate you sway to the soundless rhythms
Of club deejays, I don't normally do this
But I don't commonly view this
Sisters in the city got a thing for playing nudist
And you are fully dressed truly next to odd
So I pursue it give me your name and number
Where you been last summer
I know your world eagerly welcomes new comers
Come on!' I grabbed her by the wrist and went on
"Forget the bus you look like you like the loud type
The fist in the air the fat black and lovely proud type
That's me Tumi at your service with a purpose
I can play Biko and make white people nervous
Besides the taxi is cheaper
Damn it's good to meet ya, come on!
Do I really have to ask again sweetheart?"
"Okay for goodness please hears my number get off your knees
My name's Yvonne look man I really have to leave"
And with that I added more bounce to my stroll
I couldn't wait two days
I went home and made the call
"Hallo, can I talk to that pumpkin Yvonne?"
"She got raped this afternoon she can't come to the phone"

Hard day at work stains the face
But I was looking pretty
A five minute walk, through this place
Takes an hour in the city
See brothers act rude and throw gestures at you
Some will even try to grab like you in a petting zoo
You gotta get fully dressed and not summon suggestions
That will get you pressed to brothers
Thinking you show interest
I may be bugging but it's like slavery or something
These cats mastered the art of space invasion but fuck it
I will deal with it tell them straight
How they make me feel and shit
It gets to a point where I feel conflict is imminent
Two blocks form the bus stop
This kid looking love struck
Mumbles something at me and I say nothing at he
Lord have mercy here's another lusting at me
"Look I am in a rush thus don't be a fuss
I mean for fucks fakes I need to catch the bus"
Ay these cats are made to frustrate/straight up
Grabbed me by my wrist I didn't play that
He looked a little cute talking loud on his knees and shit
And brothers started looking he was smiling
Very pleased with it
I gave him my name and number and left suddenly
But still missed the bus I cussed this kid for loving me
Slapped from behind I turn around
There two in front of me
I am shaken I gave 'em my purse
Thinking they mugging me
When the other two drag me to the nearest shrubbery
Pulls my lips to his unzips the jeans
And rips the seems
Knocked unconscious in attempts to scream

(This is my favourite poem)

My name is Soul...

There was a girl...
I knew she was a she because when I saw her, I was longing to get her attention..
I went up to her as she sat in the cafeteria, I sat next to her and said...
Hi, my name is Soul...

Maybe you and I can make a better connection like MTN or do you want to see for yourself like Cell-C?
I'll have you talkin' everyday for free, not only on weekends..
She rolled her eyes and sighed so I said...
Hi, My name is Soul...

I don't want to portray arrogance but with me you always get something out like Outsurance..
She looked down and said "I don't mean to be rude but please conclude 'cause I'm not in the mood and I'm not even moved" I smiled and said...
Hi, my name is Soul...

I'm not as cheap as Jet but I'm good for life. Maybe even your life...
She tried to stand and leave so I grabbed her hand and said please... just hear me out...
My name is Soul...

Let's have a chat like MXit and I'm sure after that you'll like me..
Please girl, just one minute.. She looiked at her time.. She looked at her watch and said, "58 seconds remaiming..." I tried to find the right words, I tried to search for the right thing to say, I opened my mouth with anxiety and what came out was...
Hi, my name is Soul...

She smiled and put her right hand on her head so I said Hi... she interrupted me and said, "Yes, yes, I know, I know your name is Soul, but what does that have to do with me?"
I took a deep breath and said...
Hi, my name is Soul...

Stick with me and every moment will be off-peak, I'll recite poetry when I speak, I'll call you 7 times a week and I'll make your knees weak, please, just give me time...
She said, "Time is money and your account at the time bank is empty so that's why I have to go. I'm sorry Soul, your word is like McDonalds and, I'm lovin it but, like a blunt knife with no edge, you just not cuttin' it..."

I looked at her and said Hi, you already know my name so can I get your number? She took out a piece of paper and wrote the number 1, when I asked why she did that, she said, "It is because I am the first girl who doesn't want to play your little game, your poetry's nice, but I have to go..."

I looked on as she walked away so I said, Hi... I mean Bye... and for the record...
My name is Soulink!

This is a useless poem...

This is a useless poem because I hate the fact that you hate the fact that I'm in love with you...
But I love tha fact that you once did...
It cuts me deep, whereas, I have to drill it down to the fact that I hate tha fact that I once had you...

This is a useless poem because I was once told that you gotta want something hard enough to get it...
And yet, I wanted it so bad, I lost it...
I always say, I don't cry 'cause I give my pen tha pleasure of flowing ink tears....
But I'm not gon' say I've been teary eyed but I'm reaching that stage...

Actually, I've reached a stage whereas I'm writing useless poems to give an act of love...
But I always ask myself, why love when love hates me so much????

There's room for everything in a full heart, room for nothing in an empty one but only room for you in mine...
I express myself through poetry and my emotions are neither added nor imitated...
But now are rotations of what I potray myself as...
Like turn a smile upside down...

This is a useless poem because it's not gonna be considered but hope never raised any dust...
This is a useless poem because no words can describe what i feel, but I am no dictionary....
This is a useless poem because I don't wanna love, whereas, you don't me....
But this is a useful poem because now you know I share a deep affection with you...
My only hope is so i can too be your Boo, see???

I need someone who needs me...

I need someone who needs me to this extent...
An extent where there's no you or me, just us...
An extent where you love whole bodily,
Not just whole heartdly...

I need someone who needs me whereas we can dance in showers of love..
Not just kiss in the rain...
Someone who can keep my heart, keep my blood flowing...
Like water, I need you...

Someone who wants me too
But not in a state as to impregnate, like other people do
Not as a lusting, but as a loving...
Not as a lover, but as a friend too...

I need someone who needs me to this extent...
Maybe I needed someone like you...
Loved with the heart,mind... Whole bodily not just whole heartdly
To the extent where sex isn't an idea, but where making love is a choice too
Or maybe I just needed someone like you...

Through the Park...

Through the park I did dwell
I loved a boy and loved him well
He came and took my heart from me
And now he wants to set me free...

One day, he had a strange girl on his knee
And told her things he never told me
Now I understand why
For she was far prettier that I...

I went home straight that night and said,
"Mother dear, I'm going to bed"
My father came home that night
He searched for me, from left to right
Through my bedroom door he broke
And saw me hanging from a rope...

"Oh daughter dear, what have you done?
You've killed yourself for one man's son"
He took a knife and cut me down
And on my dresser, this note was found...

Dig my grave, and dig it deep
Of marble stone from head to feet...
And on my stone place a dove
To show the world I died for love...
