About Me

My photo
Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa
I grew up in the dusty streets of Soshanguve, a township in Pretoria; South Africa. Grew up with my mother who is an amazing woman that raised my brother and I all by herself. For curiosity reasons, my parents are divorced and my mother is just amazing enough to look after the both of us. I found out at a young age that I'd lost my sister and faced with numerous other challenges growing up, poetry was my way out. That played a big role in who I am today and has earned me a few achievements, the biggest being granted the opportunity of being a published poet in an Anthology called "Daybreak" and having earned other achievements and also making a start of writing for a few artists and producers. I'm too a daughter, a friend, an aunt, a blessing, a miracle, a lyricist, and therefore, a lyrical miracle. I'm not unique because I'm not like everyone else 'cause everyone's unique... Get me?? I love music, i love drama, i love basketball (i DO play it but I'm no player), I love my mother, I love myself and my first love, i love poetry...

My Brothers in the Streets by Wally Serote

*This is an extremely touching piece and I fell in love with it from the very first moment I read it and have been one of my favourite poems to perform...*

Oh you black boys
You thin shadows who emerge like a chill in the night,
You, whose heart-tearing footsteps sound in the night
My brothers in the streets
Who holiday in jails,
Who rest in hospitals,
Who smile at insults,
Who fear the whites,
Oh, you black boys
You horde-waters that sweep over black pastures
You bloody bodies that dodge bullets
My brothers in the streets
Who booze and listen to records,
Who’ve tasted rape of mothers and sisters,
Who take alms from white hands,
Who grab bread from black mouths,
Oh you black boys,
Who spill blood as easy as saying ‘Voetsek’
Listen!
Come my black brothers in the streets,
Listen,
It’s black women who are crying.
